Our Vision
Our Vision is to maintain Masjid Ar-Rahman as a grassroots facility that serves the Muslim community while promoting connectivity with the New York Muslim community. We strive to be:
- An upright place that promotes the values of moderation, kindness, charity, forgiveness, patience, perseverance and neighborliness, in the spirit of Islamic teachings.
- A welcoming place for people of all backgrounds seeking an understanding of Islam and Muslims.
- A family-friendly facility where people young and old, men, women and children are treated with respect and equality.
- A peaceful sanctuary where people can come worship and congregate in tranquility.
- An egalitarian place where attitudes of racism and sexism are NOT tolerated. Discussions expressing ideas or attitudes that support racism, misogyny, terrorism, extremism or any form of hate speech either oral, written or in multimedia format are not allowed in this masjid. Politically charged events and discussions are not permitted either.
- A community-oriented place that brings together groups of worshippers who will be gracious and helpful neighbors to the surrounding local community and support an atmosphere of peace, tolerance and cross-community sharing.
- An interfaith space that provides a venue for faith communities to interact in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere.
- An informative place where access to other community services can be acquired.
- A green space where environmentalism is promoted and practiced.
- A place where humanitarian and charitable causes are supported.
Who We Are
Masjid Ar-Rahman, (MAR) is a Not-for-Profit Organization, qualified under the IRS Code 501 (c) (3). MAR serves a diverse Muslim population in the New York and tri-state area. Located in Queens, NY, MAR provides a safe place for individuals to learn, pray, and socialize. We are situated on the crossroads of intellectual and spiritual inquisition and would love for you to be part of this. Inspired by the belief that communities develop in a supportive environment, people from all backgrounds are welcome to engage in cross-cultural experiences, social justice endeavors, civic engagement initiatives, multi-faith programming, spiritual practices and religious education. Students, young professionals, families, and seniors from all around the world with diverse backgrounds and experiences make- up MAR.
